The iPhone Duo has MagSafe. That doesn't mean your MagSafe wallet will fit it. When Apple's own FineWoven MagSafe Wallet was put on a Duo at the launch event, its bottom edge hung below the phone. Apple's tech specs list MagSafe charging, a magnet array and an alignment magnet — but no compatible wallets, and Apple hasn't announced a single Duo MagSafe accessory beyond its cases.
The reason is simple arithmetic, and once you see it, choosing a wallet for the Duo gets easy. This guide shows you the numbers, gives you a tool to check any wallet you already own, and ranks the wallet options that actually work — ours and other brands'.
Most MagSafe wallets are designed for taller, wider iPhones and overhang the folded Duo. The safest setup is a wallet built into a magnetic case sized for the Duo. If you want a detachable snap-on wallet, buy one made for the Duo, not a standard one.
- Duo Case Co MagSafe Leather Wallet Case — best overall, $49.95
- Frenchie Speed Wallet Duo — best detachable wallet, $84
- TORRO 2-in-1 Detachable Leather Wallet Case — best detachable folio, $64.99
- Duo Case Co Hinge Wallet Stand Case — best for travel, $49.95
- Nomad Traditional Leather Folio — best premium leather, $129
Why most MagSafe wallets don't fit the iPhone Duo
A MagSafe wallet is a small card holder that snaps onto the magnets on the back of an iPhone, and every one on sale was sized for a taller iPhone. The folded Duo is a much shorter, squarer phone, and three numbers explain the problem:
| Measurement | Figure | What it means for a wallet |
|---|---|---|
| Folded height | 117.8 mm | 13.7 mm shorter than the iPhone 12 mini (131.5 mm), the smallest iPhone that had MagSafe. Wallets sized for any other MagSafe iPhone have less room here than they were designed for. |
| Folded width | 84.1 mm | Narrower than a standard bank card, which is 85.6 mm wide. A wallet that holds cards sideways — the most common design — is wider than the phone before you add any material. |
| Camera | Top of the back | The wallet has to sit below the cameras, so the usable height is less than 117.8 mm. Apple doesn't publish this figure; one estimate from photos puts it around 91 mm. |
That's why the fix isn't "a smaller MagSafe wallet". It's a wallet designed around the Duo's back from the start — either built into a case, or a detachable wallet cut to the Duo's shape.

Will my MagSafe wallet fit the iPhone Duo?
Measure your wallet's height and width (or look them up on its listing) and enter them below. The checker compares them with the folded Duo's published dimensions.
MagSafe wallet fit checker
The checker places the wallet as low as possible below the cameras. Room below the cameras uses an estimate of about 91 mm from photos; Apple hasn't published it. Width and height limits use Apple's figures.

The best iPhone Duo MagSafe wallets
MagSafe Leather Wallet CaseDuo Case Co
$49.95 · free shipping
- Type: magnetic wallet case
- Cards: outer pocket
- Magnets: built in
- Colours: Brown, Blue, Black, Green and more
This solves the overhang problem the only way that's certain: the card pocket is part of a case cut to the Duo's 84.1 × 117.8 mm folded shape, so nothing can hang past the edge. It doesn't depend on where Apple put the magnets, how big the camera area is, or whether a wallet slides in your pocket — the three things nobody can confirm for a standard wallet yet.
The cards sit on the outside panel. That matters on a foldable: wallet cases adapted from other folding phones sometimes put a card sleeve on an inner face, and on a phone that closes to within 0.9 mm of flat, that stops it closing. The magnets are built into the case, so the phone still works with magnetic accessories when you need them.
- Can't overhang: cut to the Duo
- Magnets built in
- Closes flat: cards outside
- $34 less than the Frenchie wallet
- Free shipping, 6 business days to US/UK/CA/AU
- Not detachable
- Take cards out before MagSafe charging
- Two cards comfortable; four gets bulky
- Leather-finish, not documented full-grain
Speed Wallet DuoFrenchie
$84 (preorder)
- Type: Duo-specific snap-on wallet
- Cards: 6 (4 front, 2 inside)
- Extras: doubles as a kickstand
- Material: full-grain Italian leather
If you want a wallet you can pull off and leave in a bag, this is the strongest Duo-specific option reported so far. Forbes describes it as holding six cards, working as a kickstand, and being thicker than average — and slightly shorter than a standard MagSafe wallet, with cards poking out of the top a little.
It's #2 because it costs $84 on top of a case, holds cards that may sit slightly proud, and is still on preorder. Pair it with a magnetic case so it has magnets to grip through.
- Made for the Duo
- Six cards
- Kickstand built in
- $84, plus a case
- Thicker than average
- Preorder
Sold by Frenchie. It snaps onto magnets, so it needs a magnetic case underneath — our Magnetic Silicone Case ($39.95) is our thinnest magnetic case, which gives a wallet the firmest hold.
2-in-1 Detachable Leather Wallet CaseTORRO
$64.99
- Type: magnetic detachable folio
- Cards: 2, plus notes
- Charging: MagSafe via the inner case
- Material: top-grain cowhide
A leather folio cover that holds two cards and notes, and detaches magnetically from an inner bumper case. TORRO's listing says MagSafe chargers work through the inner case only, so you remove the cover to charge. A good choice if you want a full cover some days and a slim case on others.
- Two setups in one
- Top-grain leather
- Listed in stock
- Two cards only
- Folio covers the outer screen
- $15 more than our wallet case
Sold by TORRO. Want cards without hiding the outer screen? #1 keeps it usable for $49.95.
Hinge Wallet Stand CaseDuo Case Co
$49.95 · free shipping
- Type: wallet case
- Cards: pocket
- Extras: stand, spine coverage
- Magnets: no
Not a MagSafe wallet — we'll be straight about that — but for many people searching for one, it's the better answer. It puts cards, a stand and hinge protection in one case: boarding pass on the outer screen, cards in the pocket, stand out on the tray table. If you don't use MagSafe chargers or mounts, you lose nothing and gain a stand and spine coverage.
- Cards, stand and spine coverage
- Can't overhang
- No MagSafe magnets
- Bulk of three features
Traditional Leather FolioNomad

- Type: folio
- Cards: 3, inside the front flap
- Leather: Horween

The most documented leather of any option here, with three card slots on the inside flap and a recessed cut-out so cards shouldn't scratch the front screen, as Forbes describes it. If you want heritage leather and can wait, it's a fine case.
It's #5 because it costs $129, covers the outer screen when closed, and doesn't ship until about three weeks after the phone.
- Horween leather
- Three cards

- Ships from 16 November
- Covers the outer screen
Sold by Nomad. Want leather and cards for day one? #1 ships now with free shipping.
What to avoid
- Standard MagSafe wallets you haven't tested. Apple's FineWoven wallet was seen hanging below the Duo. Overhang catches on pockets and levers the wallet off.
- Wallets that hold cards sideways. A card is 85.6 mm wide; the folded Duo is 84.1 mm.
- Sliding a wallet higher to stop it overhanging. It moves off the magnets and towards the cameras. ZEERA notes that moving it by hand isn't a dependable fix.
- Card sleeves on an inner face. The Duo closes to within 0.9 mm of flat; a card inside stops it closing.
- Stick-on magnet rings on a case without magnets. They add distance and work loose — and a wallet on top makes it worse.
- Mounting the phone open by its wallet. The magnets are in one half. Use mounts with the phone folded.
Charging, mounts and your cards
- Take cards off the charger. Apple advises not to place credit cards, security badges or key cards between an iPhone and a MagSafe charger — they can be damaged. Remove a snap-on wallet, or take cards out of a wallet case, before charging. Or charge by USB-C.
- Mounts: a wallet sits where a magnetic mount attaches. Remove a snap-on wallet before mounting; with a wallet case, use a mount that grips the edges.
- Strength: a magnetic wallet holds best on a thin magnetic case. Thicker cases put more distance between the magnets.
