But on a folding phone, “thinnest” and “best” aren't the same thing: the thinnest cases on sale leave the hinge bare, and the hinge is the part you least want to land on.

Why thin matters more on the iPhone Duo
On a regular iPhone, a 2 mm case turns an 8.75 mm phone into one around 11 mm thick. On the Duo, you start at 11.3 mm before any case at all. Three things make thickness feel bigger here:
- It's already the thickest iPhone. Folded, the Duo is 2.55 mm thicker than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
- It's heavy for its size. 254 g in a body only 117.8 mm tall is dense. Every gram a case adds sits in your pocket too.
- A case adds to both halves. A case wraps the back half and frames the outer screen on the front half, so the case's back wall and its raised screen lip both add to the folded thickness.
That's why so many Duo owners search for the thinnest case. The question is how much protection you're willing to give up for each millimetre — and that's what the rest of this guide answers.

Very few sellers publish thickness at all. These are the numbers we could find on sellers' own listings or in named press coverage. Where a figure is for the back plate only, we've said so.

For most people, the sweet spot on a foldable is about 2 mm with hinge coverage. It's the thinnest you can go while still protecting the part that's most expensive to repair. Below that, you're choosing feel over protection — a fair choice if you're careful, but a choice.

Aramid is what the thinnest cases on sale are made of: a woven fibre that's strong for its weight, with a fine texture that adds grip without bulk. Ours pairs it with built-in magnets for MagSafe, for $19.74 less than Thinborne's aramid case.
To be clear about what we don't know yet: we haven't published a thickness for this case, so we can't tell you it's thinner than Thinborne or PITAKA. We'll measure it on a retail Duo after 23 October and update this page with the result.

If thinness is the only thing that matters, this is the answer, and it wouldn't be honest to rank it lower on that score. At a listed 0.90 mm, it's the thinnest iPhone Duo case we've found published anywhere.
It ranks #3 because of what it leaves out. Thinborne says the hinge is “intentionally left uncovered”, and describes the case as protection against daily scratches and minor impacts, not drops. Its listing says it's MagSafe-ready but not MagSafe or Qi2 certified. It comes in black only, ships from Texas, and costs $89.69.

Thin-case mistakes to avoid on a foldable
- Choosing thin and leaving the hinge bare when you drop phones. The hinge is the part that's hardest to repair. If drops happen, 1 mm extra for hinge coverage is the best millimetre you'll buy.
- Forgetting the outer screen. Ultra-thin shells don't protect the 5.4″ outer screen's glass. Add an outer screen protector or choose a case with front glass.
- Stick-on skins on the inner screen. The inner screen already has a replaceable cover layer. Don't add film to it.
- Assuming “MagSafe compatible” means certified. Some thin cases say compatible but not certified. If MagSafe matters, check the listing.
- Galaxy Z Fold “slim” cases. The Z Fold 8 is a different shape. Nothing transfers.

What is the lightest iPhone Duo case?
Aramid cases are the lightest: Thinborne lists 0.75–0.76 oz (about 21 g) and PITAKA's Edge about 19–22 g. Leather, rugged and stand cases are heavier; TORRAS lists 46–53.7 g for its Ostand Q3.
Do thin iPhone Duo cases protect the hinge?
Not all of them. Thinborne says its Super Thin case leaves the hinge uncovered on purpose. Several of our slim cases, including the Clear MagSafe, Magnetic Protective and Leather Magnetic cases, list hinge protection.
How thick is the iPhone Duo with a case?
The Duo is 11.3 mm folded. A case adds roughly its back wall plus its screen lip, so a 2 mm case with a 0.5 mm lip makes it about 13.8 mm, and a 0.9 mm aramid shell about 12.5 mm. These are estimates.
Do thin iPhone Duo cases work with MagSafe?
Many do, if they have magnets built in. Our Clear MagSafe, Aramid Fiber MagSafe, Magnetic Protective, Magnetic Silicone and Leather Magnetic cases all have magnets. Thinborne describes its case as MagSafe-ready but not MagSafe or Qi2 certified.
Is a thin case enough protection for the iPhone Duo?
For careful owners, a thin case with hinge coverage is usually enough. If you drop your phone often, choose a rugged case instead — thin cases are mainly for scratches and minor knocks.
Which thin iPhone Duo case has a screen protector?
